Significant advancements do not occur overnight. It is recognized that the key to a better future lies in the youth of today. We aim to promote the exposure of Biological Sciences in the following ways:

-
In high school, students are not exposed to the many different educational pathways that they can embark upon. They are given few options that do not get expanded on by their teachers, counselors or peers. We aim to provide a system of mentorship that can pair students with several mentors (of different educational backgrounds/goals) in order to provide them with a solid foundation of the many fields that fit their interests.

-
Experience is one of the most vital aspects of education and one’s opportunities to apply them. Many students that attend universities directly after high schools have trouble finding internships, job opportunities and even work (after graduating) in the very fields that they studied. Many of our members our students with either current or past experiences doing research or internships not only at Skyline College, but at other Universities and Companies as well.

-
Additionally, we aim to reach even further to the younger students in middle school: providing monthly laboratory demonstrations in the goal of promoting STEM to youth.

Ultimately, the Science and Research Club is an association that takes pride not in the numbers of awards that the individual members have gained, or how prestigious of schools that they will attend, but in its capacity to provide back to the very community that allowed for them the opportunities to pursue the wonders of science today. It is a symbol of gratitude and hope that the individuals of today can provide a better world for the communities of tomorrow.
